Gunhild Waldemar is Professor of Clinical Neurology and Director
of the Memory Disorders Research Group at Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen
University Hospital, Denmark. After receiving her medical degree
from the University of Copenhagen, she performed her specialist
training in neurology at Rigshospitalet and other Copenhagen
hospitals.
In 1995 she established the Copenhagen Memory Clinic and the
Memory Disorders Research Unit, now a member of the European
Alzheimer’s Disease Consortium (EADC), in her department. In 1996
she gained her Doctor of Medical Sciences with a thesis entitled
Functional brain imaging with SPECT in normal aging and dementia.
Her major research interests include diagnostic evaluation,
intervention and brain imaging in dementia. She participates in
several national and international collaborative studies and task
forces.
Professor Waldemar is currently a Vice President of the European
Federation of Neurological Societies (EFNS) and has chaired the EFNS
scientific panel on dementia and the european task force working
group to develop guidelines for the management of dementia.
She is a board member of the Danish Alzheimer Society. Professor
Waldemar has published more than 140 journal articles and book
chapters on cerebral blood flow, brain imaging and clinical research
in dementia
