The Center for Integrated Molecular Brain Imaging (Cimbi) is a research center funded by the Lundbeck Foundation. The research  focuses on the neural bases of personality dimensions that predispose individuals to affective and other disorders, with special emphasis on the serotonergic neurotransmitter system. Both PET and MRI are employed in studies of human subjects, and these are complemented with  studies in animal models. Advanced informatics techniques, new tracer compounds, and novel serotonergic challenge paradigms are also being developed within the center.

Cimbi researchers 2008 (Liseleje)

Cimbi is a collaboration between a number of research institutions in Copenhagen. These institutions form the core of Cimbi and all the research activities in Cimbi involve one or more of these institutions. The core institutions are distributed among the Copenhagen University Hospitals, the Technical University of Denmark and Copenhagen University. A number of other Danish and international institutions are associated with Cimbi as collaborators in one or more subprojects in Cimbi. The institutions involved in Cimbi research therefore span many scientific fields  needed to carry out the diverse activities undertaken in Cimbi.

The institutions involved in Cimbi are:

Neuroimaging

Neurobiology Research Unit (NRU), Copenhagen University Hospital, Rigshospitalet. NRU has a long history of research in receptor brain imaging, receptor binding, cellular characterization and quantification, tracer validation, kinetic modelling and data analysis. NRU also houses the management of Cimbi.

Danish Research Centre for Magnetic Resonance, (DRCMR), Copenhagen University Hospital, Hvidovre. DRCMR was the first centre in Denmark to conduct MRI research and still plays a leading role in the Danish MR community. DRCMR provides Cimbi with MRI resources and expertise in fMRI, brain morphology and diffusion tensor imaging.

DTU informatics

Informatics and Mathematical Modelling (IMM), The Technical University of Denmark. IMM has a long history of research in mathematical modelling and advanced signal processing, especially within the field of medical imaging.

PET ligands

Department of Medicinal Chemistry (DMC), Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. DMC provides the Cimbi basis for cold chemistry facilities and expertise in organic syntheses.

PET and Cyclotron Unit, Department of Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine, Copenhagen University Hospital, Rigshospitalet. Radiosynthesis facilities and expertise, PET-scanners

Psychology

Medical Psychology, Department of Public Health, University of Copenhagen. Personality measures

Department of Psychology, University of Copenhagen. Neuropsychology and social cognition
